The First Lady Madam Sia Nyama Koroma has officially opened the UMC Girls’ Primary and Secondary Schools at Kimbadu in the Kono District.  The schools we built by the Koidu Holdings as part of its corporate social responsibility.   Madam Sia Koroma said their challenge is to ensure that their efforts to provide quality education and care for the children are realized.  She said quality education is the foundation for the formation of strong human capital, hence an investment in the future.   Madam Sia Koroma commended the Management of Koidu holdings for taking the initiative to compliment the work of the Government by providing school infrastructure for the education of children.   She noted that education is one of the two human rights prioritized by the President’s Agenda for Change.   The Chairperson , Kono District Council Diana Konimani described the intervention by Koidu Holdings as masterpiece and stressing that the children will now learn in a conducive environment.  She said Koidu Holdings has kept to its promises and that they have stretched their operations in areas that they do not exist.   The Paramount Chief of Tankoro Chiefdom Paul Saquee the Fifth described the ceremony as historic and revealed that relationship between the Koidu Holdings and the community people is improving steadily. He said they will continue to corporate with Koidu Holdings for the development of the Chiefdom.     The Resident Bishop United Methodist Church Conference John Yambasu described the resettlement project undertaken by Koidu Holdings as one with a difference and will go a long way in addressing the plight of school children.ummc
  The Chief Communication Officer Koidu Holdings Ibrahim Sorie Kamara said the Company sees investment in education and capacity building as long term solution to the development of the people of Kono.  He said over the years the company has supported various educational initiatives and will continue to channel financial support in all sectors. He said the company has so far employed   over three thousand youths and highlighted projects undertaken by the Company including road rehabilitation in the district, establishment of clinic with a fulltime Medical Doctor and the rehabilitation of Tankoro and Motema Police Stations.
